May 15, 2026Regional Policy Training on “Making Migration Work for Africa”
Diani, Kenya – May 26–30, 2026 – The Horn of Africa Regional Environment Centre and Network at Addis Ababa University (HoAREC&N-AAU), through the Managing the Impacts of Environmental Change and Conflict on Mobility in Eastern Africa (MECMEA) Project, participated in and facilitated a Regional Policy Training on “Making Migration Work for Africa” in Diani, Kenya. The training brought together policymakers, migration experts, and government representatives from across Eastern Africa to strengthen knowledge and capacity on migration governance, climate-induced mobility, and the interlinkages between environmental change, human mobility, and sustainable development.
The MECMEA Project is implemented by a regional consortium led by the Horn of Africa Regional Environment Centre and Network (HoAREC&N), in partnership with the Mixed Migration Centre, Association Djibouti Nature, South Sudan Nature Conservation Organization, and PanAfricare Kenya. The project is funded by the European Union and contracted by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development through the Migration and Mobility Dialogue (MMD) Grant Facility.
