Partnership startup
HoA-REC&N, AAU has singed project implementation partnership contract agreement with the city government of Addis Ababa on integrated solid waste management activities on October, 2010. The collaborative effort had resulted in the partial closure of the Repi open dumping site with a flaring system in place, registration of the project under methane capturing landfill project on CDM and the transformation of the reclaimed site in to a public park. The period of performance under the contract was 15 years with renewal in 5 year intervals.
Success stories and opportunities
- In 2010- 2013 pipe line for landfill gas collection and gas flaring system has been constructed (on the closed total area of 19 hectares),
