Project Overview
The Oromia Improved Cook Stove Dissemination Project is a small-scale clean energy initiative implemented within the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
The project introduced Improved Cook Stoves (ICSs) to reduce the use of non-renewable biomass for household cooking. By replacing traditional cooking methods with:


Certification & Standards
- Gold Standard for the Global Goals (standalone carbon project)
- Fairtrade Carbon Standard (Fairtrade Certified)
Key Achievements & Impacts
- 16,000 improved stoves distributed to 8,000 households
- 100,000 tCO₂ emission reductions in the first 5 years
- Employment for 45 women-led stove production groups
- €100,000 generated from Fairtrade premium
- Over €1 million earned from carbon credit sales
