Capacity-Building Training on Evidence-Based, Inclusive Responses to Climate-Induced Migration Underway in Mombasa, Kenya
MOMBASA – February 23, 2026 (HoA-REC&N) – the Horn of Africa Regional Environment Center and Network at Addis Ababa University (HoA-REC&N-AAU) and PanAfricare-Kenya are currently holding a capacity-building training, in Mombasa, Kenya under the theme “Building Capacity for Evidence-Based, Inclusive Responses to Climate-Induced Migration”. The training that brought together participants from eight Eastern African countries, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya, Burundi, Tanzania, Uganda, and South Sudan, is expected to equip participants with practical tools, shared knowledge, and collaborative strategies to address the pressing challenges of climate-induced migration.
Resource persons from Ethiopia and Kenya are giving training on: climate-Induced Migration and the Nexus of Climate Change; Conflict, and human Mobility, Migration in Africa – Facts and Figures; International Migration Law; Navigating the Migration Ecosystem in Africa; Legacy media and reporting on migration in Africa, Social media and AI reporting on migration in Africa.
The capacity-building training, as initiative of the MECMEA project that is financed by the European Union and Contracted by ICMPD, aims at strengthening community resilience and empowering youth, women, civil society organizations, community representatives and the media to be pioneers of change and forward looking catalysts to bring change on climate –induced migration in the continent.
