October 21, 2026REGIONAL TRAINING ON CLIMATE MOBILITY BEGINS IN MALINDI, KENYA
The Regional Training on Climate Mobility for Policymakers, Local Authorities, and Practitioners begins today, 21 October 2026, in Malindi, Kenya.
The four-day training (21–24 October) aims to strengthen policy coherence, migration governance, and regional collaboration to promote people-centered, climate-resilient, and inclusive mobility solutions across Eastern Africa.
The programme opens with welcome and opening remarks by Dominic Gudana, Director of PanAfricare, and John Moi Ajjugo, MECMEA Project Coordinator, followed by sessions led by Prof. Belay Simane of Addis Ababa University.
The sessions will explore climate-induced migration and the connections between climate change, conflict, and human mobility, as well as the role of migration in integrating the African continent. The training provides a platform for knowledge exchange and practical learning to strengthen understanding of climate mobility and support effective policy responses across the region.
The training is organized under the MECMEA Project (Managing the Impacts of Environmental Change and Conflict on Mobility in Eastern Africa) by the Horn of Africa Regional Environment Centre and Network (HoA-REC&N), PanAfricare, and other consortium partners, with funding from the European Union and contracted by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) through the MMD Grant Facility.
