ADDIS ABABA – October 25, 2025 (HoA-REC&N) — A two-week intensive training on project planning, management, supervision, and implementation has effectively convened programme managers and project teams to augment their competencies in managing development projects. The training, conducted at the Horn of Africa Regional Environment Centre and Network (HoA-REC&N) premises by Ethiopian Management Institute sought to enhance capabilities throughout all phases of the project cycle.
The capacity-building training aimed at programme managers and project specialists at HoA-REC&N, concentrating on enhancing skills in project planning, facilitation, execution, supervision, and evaluation of project outputs, outcomes, and impacts. The programme included practical exercises and discussions to facilitate experiential learning and knowledge exchange.
Personnel from several units, including the HoA-REC&N office in Addis Ababa and field offices in Zeway and Gambella, actively participated in the exchange of ideas regarding project administration, coordination, supervision, and implementation. They took turns in presenting their daily assignments, reflecting on experiences, and exchanging effective techniques.
Participants indicated that the training, a component of HoA-REC&N’s yearly capacity-building programme, substantially improves their capacity to execute projects more efficiently.
HoA-REC&N routinely organises similar training sessions in partnership with the Ethiopian Management Institute, emphasising critical elements of professional growth and efficient project management for teams within project units and among professional specialists. (HoAREC&N)
