ICMPD successfully completes a two-day monitoring, verification mission of MECMEA Project
ADDIS ABABA – July 25, 2025 (HoAREC&N) – ICMPD (International Centre for Migration Policy Development) successfully completed its two-day monitoring and verification mission for the project entitled, Managing the Impacts of Environmental Change and Conflict on Mobility in Eastern Africa through Evidence-Based Inclusive Policy Dialogue and Collaborative Actions” (MECMEA).
The mission held here from July 8th and 9th, 2025 with the primary objective of reviewing financial management and administrative processes of the MECMEA consortium members that include Mixed Migration Centre (MMC), Association Djibouti Nature (AND), South Sudan Nature Conservation Organisation (SSNCO) and PanAfricare Kenya. Furthermore, the monitoring and verification mission reportedly ensures compliance with donor and organizational standards.
During their visit, the ICMPD team emphasized that the verification exercise is a critical component of their commitment to transparency, accountability, and the effective use of resources. They also noted that the findings will provide valuable insights to enhance ongoing project implementation and inform future strategic planning.
Looking ahead, HoA-REC&N–AAU and its consortium partners remain steadfast in their commitment to advancing the success of the MECMEA initiative. They will ensure full and rigorous compliance with EU and ICMPD standards—upholding value for money, transparency, and accountability at every stage of implementation.
The Mission was conducted by a dedicated team from ICMPD’s Corporate Financial and Budget and Resources Management Units, and the MMD Grant Facility Team at the premises of Horn of HoA-REC&N-AAU, which is the Coordinator of the MECMEA project.
