Horn of Africa Environmental Sustainability and Resilience (HoA-ESR) project Second Annual Review Meeting, Sep 6th 2022

The Horn of Africa Regional Environment Centre and Network (HoA-REC&N) has conducted its second Annual Review Meeting on the HoA-ESR project in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The meeting took place at HoA-REC&N headquarters in Gullele Botanic Garden from September 6- 7, 2022. The review meeting was convened to update the donor, Sida on HoA-ESR achievements made in 2021 and assess any adaptive management needs. Implementing partners from Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somaliland, and South Sudan were in attendance. A number of activities were conducted including tree planting to honour the Green Legacy, progress updates presented by the implementing partners, and other important discussion points related to the role of Botanic Garden in supporting the Post 2020 Biodiversity Framework, project financial management, and potential of carbon financing in the Horn of Africa. The HoA-ESR is funded by Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, Sida under the Regional Development Cooperation for Sub-Saharan Africa. The project is designed to contribute to the whole-of-society approach to biodiversity conservation in efforts to achieve long-term environmental sustainability in the Horn of Africa region.
