Horn of Africa Sustainable Energy Distribution Programme of Activity (HoA-SED-PoA) Design Consultation meeting, Oct. 11th, 2022
The Horn of Africa Regional Environment Centre and Network (HoAREC&N) has conducted Programme of Activity (PoA) design consultation meeting with the relevant stakeholders in Ethiopia. The objective of the meeting was to gather the feedbacks from all relevant actors on the design of the programme. The Programe has initiated as a regional program of activity (PoA) entitled “Horn of Africa Sustainable Energy Distribution Programme of Activity (HoA-SED-PoA). The HoA-SED-PoA aimed to reduce the GHG emissions from the use of non-renewable biomass by promoting Renewable Energy (RE) and Energy Efficiency Technologies (RETs) for cooking and lighting in Ethiopia, Kenya, Djibouti, South Sudan, Sudan, Eretria and Somali land and will incorporate a number of Component Project Activities (CPAs) or Voluntary Project Activities (VPAs) from the seven countries mentioned above. The first PoA design consultation meeting has conducted on October 11th, 2022 at HoAREC/N head quarter Gullele Botanic Garden with the stakeholders from Government Ministries, Designated national Authority (FDRE EPA), International and Local NGOs and private companies.
During the meeting HoAREC/N share the key PoA information with stakeholders, including the PoA’s objective, entities involved, geographical boundary, duration, implementation plan, the technology/measures to be implemented under the PoA, and contribution to SDGs. Discussion made and the constructive feedbacks including interaction with other similar initiatives/programmes in overlapping geographical boundaries, technologies gap or challenges and others were composed from the stakeholders.
