The Migration, Environment, Climate Change and Environmental Action (MECMEA) project

The Migration, Environment, Climate Change and Environmental Action (MECMEA) project, funded by the European Union and contracted by ICMPD, addresses the interconnected challenges of climate change, environmental degradation, conflict, and migration in Eastern Africa.

Led by the Horn of Africa Regional Environment Centre & Network (HoA-REC&N), the project is implemented in partnership with:

  • Mixed Migration Centre (MMC)
  • Association Djibouti Nature (AND)
  • South Sudan Nature Conservation Organization (SSNCO)
  • PanAfricare Kenya

The initiative promotes regional cooperation, policy dialogue, multi-stakeholder engagement, and capacity-building to reduce climate-related displacement and mobility challenges.
