Prof. Ensermu Kelbessa, a renowned Botanist from Addis Ababa University, passed away on 14th August 2016 after suffering from a stroke. During his professional life time, he served in different positions and received numerous and recognitions and awards for his contributions in the field of Botany in Ethiopia. He travelled extensively in Ethiopia and around the world to research and collect different plant species. Prof. Ensermu played a significant role in the establishment of the Gullele Botanic Garden, on which premises HoA-REC&N’s Headquarters is situated. The funeral service of Prof. Ensermu took place at Holy Trinity Cathedral, Addis Ababa, on 15th August 2015. Prof. Ensermu was survived by his wife, three children and four grandchildren.
