A stakeholder consultation workshop was held at HoA-REC&N’s headquarters in Gullele Botanic Garden on 23 January 2017. The workshop brought together network members and government offices to help align activities for a proposed project in the Addis Ababa city landscape with the appropriate government offices.

The proposed project is part of an effort to support resilience and sustainable development in Addis Ababa. It aims to improve urban resilience by addressing natural resource management challenges, waste management and pollution, urban livelihoods and food security and energy, amongst others. The project will be guided by government strategies and policies and recommendations by development partners.

The invited offices included: the Addis Ababa Cleansing Management Agency, Addis Ababa Water and Sewage Authority, Rivers and Riverside Development Project Office, Addis Ababa Environmental Protection Authority, Addis Ababa Agriculture and Natural Resource Management Bureau, and the Beautification, Parks, and Cemetery Development Agency. The project is still under development, and the stakeholders will continue to refine the proposal and search for partners to implement the project.
